Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced the start of construction on 11-and-a-half miles of new continuous paved golf cart paths at county golf courses. The project will be complete by fall and create 18 holes of paved paths at each of the county’s three public golf courses, allowing patrons to utilize carts on the course during wet conditions.

“The weather in Rochester can change quickly and a pop-up shower can spoil outdoor plans,” said County Executive Bello. “The addition of paved golf cart paths will enhance the playing experience and provide accessibility for all at all of our public golf courses during wet conditions.”

Paving will start at Churchville Park with Durand Eastman and Genesee Valley to follow.

“You can expect some disruptions at the courses, however, our professional golf staff will be in constant contact with patrons and leagues,” said Director of Parks Patrick Meredith. “We will be updating patrons daily and post on www.monroecountyparksgolf.com.”

The golf cart paths are part of the Golf Course Improvement Project, just one piece of the County Executive’s ongoing $16.6 million Go Outside Monroe Parks Revitalization initiative, which seeks to renovate and upgrade facilities and infrastructure throughout the county’s 23 park system. The cost for the golf cart paths is under $1.9 million. Additional improvements planned for this year include drainage, irrigation and tee box improvements and equipment.
