Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced that public swimming at Ontario Beach Park is now open for the 2023 season.

“Summer is here and the beach at Ontario Beach Park is officially open for public swimming,” said County Executive Bello. “We want everyone to stay safe while swimming and encourage you to take advantage of free swimming lessons offered at the beach.”

Monroe County lifeguards are on duty beginning today and swimming is allowed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week through Labor Day. Swimming is prohibited when lifeguards are not on duty. Free swim lessons are offered for ages 5 and up from 10 to 10:45 a.m. every Wednesday.

For water conditions, and to ensure the beach is open for swimming call (585) 753-5887.

The historic Dentzel Carousel will also be operating from noon to 7 p.m. seven days a week. It was installed at Ontario Beach Park in 1905, and has remained in its original location ever since.

Ontario Beach Park has a playground, restroom facilities and changing rooms that are open to the public. The park also has an accessible mat that can be used by anyone who utilizes a wheelchair, walker, wagon or stroller. The mat is located immediately east of the Roger Robach Community Center, where existing sidewalks and ramps allow for ADA accessibility.

Ontario Beach Park is located on the shore of Lake Ontario in the northernmost section of the City of Rochester near the Irondequoit border. The park is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Glass, pets and amplified music are not allowed.
