Traffic Control Operator, prov.
Description of Duties
This position, located at the Department of Transportation, is responsible for the operation of a computerized traffic signal control system. Duties involve monitoring traffic flow and modifying traffic signal timings based on traffic conditions caused by traffic accidents, weather, and construction. Duties also involve receiving and resolving reported incidents impacting the County transportation system, dispatching communications to maintenance crews, and maintaining and updating databases. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Senior Traffic Control Operator or other higher-level staff member. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation with an Associate's degree or successful completion of at least sixty (60) college semester credit hours; OR,
(B) Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience monitoring or operating a computerized traffic management system, working with a transportation routing system, or dispatching; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
