Description of Duties

This is a technical electrical maintenance position, located at the Department of Environmental Services, responsible for performing electrical maintenance work in a wastewater treatment plant and wastewater collection systems as the proper maintenance and upkeep of building and facilities electrical equipment.  Duties involve predictive and preventive maintenance activities on electrical distribution equipment. Work is performed in accordance with department and industrial standards.  The employee responds to emergencies, works under a variety of schedules and conditions including all types of weather and various heights and spaces (such as cramped spaces), and moves items weighing up to approximately eighty (80) pounds.  The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Senior Station Mechanic-Electrical or other higher level staff member.  The employee performs lead (working) supervision of crews in the field.  Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, or a closely related field plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience either working on process instrumentation equipment in a one-hundred (100) million gallons per day (MGD) or higher wastewater treatment system, or performing electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance and repair in an industrial/commercial type facility; OR,

(B)  Three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as defined in (A) above; OR,

(C)  An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
