ROCHESTER, NY -- Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced today, May 27, 2020 that Ecopark, the county's recycling facility at 10 Avion Drive in Chili will reopen on June 3, with some new restrictions.

"I'm pleased we're able to reopen the Ecopark and begin offering recycling services to our residents again," said Bello. "Making sure we properly dispose of waste materials is an important step toward environmental sustainability. I encourage residents to take advantage of the recycling services we offer, and to please be patient with our staff as we grapple with new pandemic-related restrictions that may cause some longer wait times."

New rules for recycling are as follows:

  • All Ecopark customers must wear a mask or face covering on the facility grounds
  • Customers who are dropping off household hazardous waste or pharmaceuticals are asked to remain inside their vehicles; county staff will remove these items from their vehicles
  • All other recycling stations at the park are self-serve and residents should be prepared to unload their own items. If you are unable to unload your materials, please bring someone with you who can.
  • Household hazardous waste will be accepted by appointment only. Appointments can be made online at www.ecoparkmcny.com.  Currently, all appointment slots are full through June 10.
  • Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies will be on-site for traffic control, to regulate building access and oversee collection of pharmaceuticals.
  • Due to high demand and the need to ensure appropriate physical distancing, wait times may be longer than usual.

The facility will be open from 1 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. It will be closed on July 4.

Ecopark is a  partnership between Monroe County and Waste management that provides a "one-stop dropoff' for residential recycling.
